For all of the editing services I provide, I strive to work with authors in a manner that is best for them. Some authors want to collaborate closely on changes to their work; others prefer to be involved after the edit is complete. My first step is to determine how you want us to work together, and move forward from there. Repeat clients appreciate how I can quickly ascertain their style and needs, and editing becomes smoother and quicker with each new job.
“Cheryl is an amazing editor! As a result of her careful eye I can be confident that I am submitting clear and clean manuscripts to publishers, and have even received comments back in that regard. She is also fantastic at indexing – so careful and thorough. I heartily recommend Cheryl if you need any editing work done!”

Copy Editing – This is editing for grammar, spelling, punctuation and other elements of style to ensure accuracy and consistency. I have a keen eye for detail and an innate sense of proper language use, which makes me especially adept at this kind of work.
Stylistic Editing / Manuscript Review – I will review your work to get a sense of content and structure, flow of ideas, meaning and clarity, and suggest changes to enhance it. This type of editing has to be collaborative, and my job is to ensure that you have communicated what you want to say in the best possible way.
Proofreading / Formatting – This is the final step in the editing process, when you want to be certain that your work is error-free and has met your publisher’s guidelines. My attention to detail is particularly helpful here, and former clients have proudly reported how pleased their publishers were with the final version of their manuscript.
Indexing – Whether you need a subject index or a list of sources cited, I can do a thorough review of your work and produce an accurate and comprehensive index for you.
